Planting Fruit Trees at Blackwell Park’s Community Garden

Work on the green upgrades at Blackwell Park is nearing completion! Now, Southside ReLeaf is partnering with the Richmond Office of Sustainability to complete the new community garden at the park, which will provide fresh produce for the community. We’re seeking volunteers to help with planting four fruit trees in the garden.

When?

Friday, October 24, 2025, from 10 am to 1 pm.

Volunteer Responsibilities  

Volunteers will plant, mulch, and water four fruit trees in pre-augered holes. Bending and lifting up to 50lbs is helpful but not necessary.

Where?

Blackwell Park Community Garden, 300 East 15th Street, Richmond 23224.

What should I bring?

Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Please bring a refillable water bottle. Gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own pair. Dress for the weather. Tools will be provided.
