Volunteer & Engage
At Southside ReLeaf, everyone has a role to play in growing a greener, healthier, and more connected Southside. Whether you have a few hours to give or a special skill to share, there are many ways to support our work. Explore the four T’s below to find what feels right for you.
Give Your Time
Your time makes a direct impact in neighborhoods across Richmond’s Southside. Most of our volunteer opportunities are hands-on greening activities out in the field — planting trees, caring for young trees, maintaining community spaces, and more.
Join a Volunteer Event
Check our Events Calendar for upcoming volunteer days.
Schedule a Group Workday
Businesses, faith groups, school groups, and community organizations are welcome to volunteer together. To plan a private volunteer day, contact our Outreach & Engagement Coordinator, Lisa, at lisa@southsidereleaf.org.
Give Your Talent
Skilled volunteers help us strengthen our organization from the inside out. If you have professional expertise or specialized experience, we’d love to partner with you.
We are especially seeking support in:
Spanish language outreach & translation
Database and organizational systems management
Policy research and policy writing
Other talents are welcome — from fundraising to video production, education, technical assistance with greening projects, and more.
If you’d like to lend your skills to Southside ReLeaf, reach out to Brandi at hello@southsidereleaf.org.
Give Your Testimony
Your voice helps tell the story of why greening matters — and why our community’s leadership matters even more.
Share Your Story
Neighbors, partners, volunteers, and supporters are invited to share their experiences through our Testimony Form.
Raise Your Voice in Advocacy
You can also support our policy work by joining our advocacy efforts at City Hall and in the state legislature.
Sign up for advocacy action alerts to be notified when urgent action is needed.
Stay Rooted
Stay informed year-round about our policy efforts and opportunities to get involved by subscribing to our monthly newsletter, The Leaflet.
Give Your Treasure
Financial support fuels our programs, helps us care for trees long term, and ensures our work remains community-led.
Donate Money
Every contribution, whether one-time or monthly, strengthens our ability to plant, protect, and advocate for Southside’s urban forest and green spaces.
Donate Supplies and Services
We also welcome in-kind gifts that support our work, such as:
Tree planting supplies
Outdoor gear
Printing or graphic services
Catering for volunteer events
Temporary workspace or meeting space
If you’re interested in making an in-kind donation, please contact Brandi at hello@southsidereleaf.org.
