Crooked Branch Ravine Park is a small urban forest along Reedy Creek. It’s beautiful in some places, but there are significant issues with invasive plants. Join the Reedy Creek Coalition for a walk to discuss how invasive plants arrive, spread, and impact local ecology.

Free-a-Tree at Reedy Creek
Join the James River Park System's Invasive Species Management team in removing invasive plants at Reed Creek and contributing to better quality of life for native species.
Bradford Pear Tree Exchange
The Virginia Department of Forestry’s “Callery Pear Exchange” program promotes the removal of these invasive trees, by providing Virginia landowners with a free replacement native tree. Help reduce the spread of Callery pear within our natural areas, and promote plantings that support our native pollinators.

Community Tree Care Day at Swansboro Playground
Join the RVA Parks & Rec for a community tree care day! We will be maintaining young trees in the Swansboro / Broad Rock neighborhoods on Southside. Not only will these trees help beautify the area and create a habitat for birds and other local wildlife, but once they reach maturity, they will also provide shade and cool down the temperatures in an area frequented by park visitors and playground users.
