Tree Ambassador Training - Fall 2026 Session

The Tree Ambassador Program (TAP) is a free volunteer training initiative by Southside ReLeaf, designed to empower community members with the knowledge and skills to advocate for young trees and support greener neighborhoods.

What?

TAP is a two-day training, consisting of classroom and in-the-field sessions. We’ve designed the program to be accessible to all levels, with multiple opportunities for continued hands-on learning throughout the year.

When?

  • Saturday, October 3, 2026 | 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  • Sunday, October 4, 2026 | 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Please plan to participate in both days of training.

Where?

The training location(s) are TBD in Southside, Richmond.

What will I learn?

Topics covered in TAP will include:

  • Urban forestry

  • Health impacts of urban greening

  • How to plant a tree 101

  • Advocating for young trees 

  • Tools used in greening work 

  • Safety best practices
