Build Southside’s Healing Justice Garden - July 18

  • 2015 Ruffin Rd Richmond, VA United States (map)

Join our friends at Virginia Community Voice for a series of volunteer days at the former T.B. Smith Community Center!

Earlier this year, Richmond City Council voted to lease the former T.B. Smith Community Center to Virginia Community Voice. This milestone gives the organization an opportunity to begin activating the space, launch community programming, and continue building its vision for a neighborhood-centered Healing Justice & Community Power Building Center.

The first project is transforming the property into community gardens that will support Virginia Community Voice's food justice programming. For generations, systemic racism and sustained political inaction have left Southside Richmond's Black and Brown communities without reliable access to healthy, affordable food. Food sovereignty is a healing intervention, and growing food together can build health, connection, resilience, and community power.

Come help transform this space into a place where healing, nourishment, and community can grow!
