Richmond Tree Week Kick-Off — Tree Care Day at Davee Gardens

  • Davee Gardens 2015 Ruffin Road Richmond, Virginia, 23234 United States (map)

Kick off another Richmond Tree Week with a tree care day in Davee Gardens, a historic Southeast Richmond neighborhood! Meet other tree lovers, learn about events happening all week long, and help care for young trees. Let's celebrate reforesting Richmond for a 7th year!

This event is one of nine events hosted in South Richmond during Richmond Tree Week (Nov. 1-7). View the full schedule of events across the city at reforestrichmond.org.

Where?

  • Getting There: For driving instructions, enter 3412 Ryburn Rd into your GPS. Please carpool whenever possible. The nearest bus stop is #1426, Richmond Highway @ Ruffin.

  • Parking Instructions: Please park on the street near Ryburn Rd. and Deerwood Rd., where the tree care work will take place. Be respectful of neighbors and do not block mailboxes or driveways. No bike rack is available at this location.

  • Possible Hazards: In this outdoor environment, you may encounter stinging insects, high UV exposure, and adverse weather conditions. We will be in touch if we need to cancel or reschedule due to weather.

  • Site Amenities: This location offers shade/covered pavilion, seating, and paved sidewalks.

What should I bring?

Please wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We recommend long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to protect you from scrapes and insects. You may wish to wear a hat and sunglasses and bring bug repellent and sunscreen. Please bring a refillable water bottle and, if desired, a snack. We will also provide water and snacks.

Do I need to sign up?

Yes! Please sign up through CFengage. If you have any questions about this volunteer event, please email Lisa at lisa@southsidereleaf.org.
