Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Richmond Parks and Recreation, Virginia Community Voice, and Oak Grove Civic Association to help maintain young trees at Oak Grove Playground and on neighboring streets. Volunteers will prune, mulch, and adjust stakes to support healthy growth. This maintenance is essential to ensure these trees can cool our city, filter air and water pollution, stabilize soil to reduce erosion, and lower carbon emissions.
Two volunteer shifts are available. Shift 1 is from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Shift 2 is from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
No prior experience is necessary! All tools, gloves, and instructions will be provided. Please wear weather‑appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes, and bring your own water bottle. Be sure to register so we can bring the appropriate number of tools.
Volunteers age 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Keep in mind that CBF limits the number of volunteers who can participate, so if you find that your schedule or health prevents you from attending, please let them know so another volunteer can attend in your place. You can contact Ann Jurczyk via email at ajurczyk@cbf.org or by phone at 804-258-1522.
