Compost Giveaway

  • Hickory Hill Community Center 3000 East Belt Boulevard Richmond, VA, 23234 United States (map)

Stop by Hickory Hill Community Center for a free compost giveaway from the Richmond Compost Initiative! What started as a grant-funded pilot program through the City of Richmond’s Parks & Rec has now successfully produced and delivered over 200 cubic yards of rich compost, used in Parks & Rec community gardens, pollinator meadows, and tree planting sites across the city. This finished compost was sourced entirely from food scraps, leaves, and other organic materials dropped off by city residents at compost bin sites. The City is celebrating the successful end of this pilot program (…with exciting news to come!) with a big giveaway to the community that helped support it! No registration necessary, but you must bring your own bucket or bag; limit one bucket per household.

*Note: This giveaway is happening in conjunction with the VDoF Bradford Pear Tree Exchange - take some free compost home along with your free tree!
