Clean the Bay Day is a short, three-hour annual event hosted by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation that has a massive cumulative impact. Since the event began in 1989, this Virginia tradition has engaged more than 165,500 volunteers who have removed approximately 7.18 million pounds of debris from our land and waterways.
Each year, on the first Saturday of June, thousands of Virginians simultaneously descend on the rivers, streams, beaches, and inland parks of the Chesapeake Bay watershed to remove harmful litter and debris.
Join on Saturday, June 7 from 9 am 12 pm at one of hundreds of project locations for this year’s Clean the Bay Day. Be sure to register by May 28!
Richmond Parks and Recreation and Southside ReLeaf are hosting local projects with Clean the Bay Day in Richmond. Southside ReLeaf will lead a project at Reedy Creek. Exact project locations and instructions will be shared upon registration. Rain boots or tall boots are recommended for volunteers at Reedy Creek, as we’ll be wading in shallow water as part of the clean-up effort.
